Hi

I'm looking for data regarding the amount of strain in tibial cartilage under compression. I especially need to know the strain separately for the area covered by meniscus, and the area not covered by meniscus. I need this to know if there is any difference between the strain in these two areas, and how much it is different. It will be the best if these are in vivo data, but in vitro data will also be very helpful. I will appreciate if you can introduce any references and studies in this regard.

Thank you

Hi, Feras. Here is a paper about an in vitro study in which tibial cartilage strains were measured before and after meniscectomy:

Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2008 Dec;16(12):1545-54. Epub 2008 Jun 2.
Meniscectomy alters the dynamic deformational behavior and cumulative strain of tibial articular cartilage in knee joints subjected to cyclic loads.
