I’m convening another free master class on the registration day (Wednesday July 6) of this year’s annual conference of the European College of Sport Science, in Liverpool. If previous classes are anything to go by, less than 10 people will arrive early enough to take part, so it will be informal, interactive, and hopefully fun. We can cover any topics across the spectrum of design and analysis of studies of athlete and non-athlete populations. Get back to me and I will keep you in the loop about when and where to meet. Include your cell-phone number so we can make any last-minute decisions about venue.
By the way, “master class” means a class where you learn from the masters. Alan Batterham will be one of them, David Pyne will arrive after lunch, Martin Buchheit will come if his gravid wife permits, and Greg Atkinson will try to sneak out of other conference duties. Other masters are welcome.
Conference registration opens at 0830. I suggest we start at 1100, grab some lunch around 1230, and finish before the first conference session at 1500. You can turn up and go away at any stage.
We are up against a workshop on scientific writing for non-native speakers of English, presented by a Hilary Glasman-Deal. I Google-Scholared her name but found only one book, and under H Glasman I found only one qualitative article, published in 1979. Still, she's likely to be very good, so if you struggle with English as a second language, make sure you turn up for her workshop early. It's on a first-come first-served basis and runs from 0900 to 1400.
See http://www.ecss-congress.eu/2011/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=92&Itemid=71 for more. If it’s full, try the master class, and we could make the essentials of scientific writing one of our topics.
