Hi, I was just curious what kind of double sided tape everyone was using? Im new to our motion lab and we are running low on our double sided tape and no one seems to know what kind of tape it is or where to purchase more of it. Any input would greatly be appreciated.
thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
We have had good luck with the tape from BIOPAC Systems, here is the link to the actual product.

We use 3M wig tape from PayneBeautySupplies. It is hypoallergenic and works really well when the subject gets sweaty. It doesn't work that well on shoes so we tape the markers down with athletic tape or some other kind of tape.

Just about everyone uses toupée tape - hypoallergenic, double-sided and made to stick to skin with moderate amounts of moisture. We sell it by the roll - one inch wide, 108 inches long. p/n 000-100-TPE, $4.75 per roll.
We also sell Scotchlite 8850 tape (1 inch wide retro-reflective tape) which is the standard marker covering tape for retro-reflective motion capture markers. p/n 001-100-TPE, $7 per yard.

Although a little more expensive, we have also liked using electrode washers because they are pre-cut to a variety of sizes. See:

Hi Alex,
I've tried the electrode backs and 3M toupee tape and I think the markers may stay on a bit better with the toupee tape during higher velocity activities or if the subject begins to perspire. I wanted to also suggest an alternative to tape that may be useful in some situations: superglue. Superglue is very strong in tension but not in torsion so markers can be easily twisted off without pain (or skin removal!). Just stay away from some of the super glues found in the hardware section of the store.
Cheers,
Elizabeth Russell
