Associate Professor in Health and Sports Science

SCHOOL OF PHYSIOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY
Applications are invited for appointment to the newly created position of Associate Professor in
Health and Sports Science. The School of Physiology and Pharmacology has developed a
national and international program in Sports Medicine and has offered for the first time this year a
new and unique program, the Bachelor of Science in Health and Sports Science, in the Faculty of
Medicine. The program will lead graduates into fields such as exercise rehabilitation, exercise
prescription and health promotion, corporate health, sports management and sports science.
The successful applicant will be expected to establish an excellent research program in Exercise
and Sports Science whilst attracting national competitive grant funding for research. The
successful applicant will also be expected to develop and lead an active postgraduate research
program and progressively assume a leading role in the undergraduate teaching programs in this
new and developing course.
Essential criteria: a PhD in an appropriate discipline; an excellent record of research in the area
of Exercise and Sports Science as evidenced by a record of publication in leading journals in this
field; an excellent record of attracting nationally competitive research funding in the discipline of
Health and Sports Science; a record of excellent achievement in teaching and supervision at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and experience in implementing equity and diversity
policies and programs.
The salary range is A$75,447 to A$83,118 per year depending on qualifications and experience.
The position is full-time (continuing). Membership of a University approved superannuation
scheme is a condition of employment for this position.
