    PhD Position - Exercise Science

    Funding for one PhD assistantship in the Doctoral Program (PhD) in Education with a specialization in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion (EFHP) is available in collaboration with the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center. We are seeking a highly-qualified individual that wants to attain their terminal degree at Virginiaís largest public research university. The graduate research assistantship is in Human Movement Science.

    Required Qualifications & Responsibilities:

    1. Masterís degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
    2. Must hold current fitness certification such as ACSM, ACE, NAMS, NCSA, AFFA, NASM, or NFPT
    3. CPR/AED certification
    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    5. Ability to work week nights and weekends and travel as needed


    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the areas of:
    1. Training and programming: Develop and implement exercise training for general and special populations

    2. Education: providing ongoing in-house community education

    Note about funding:
    ∑ Contingent upon funding
    ∑ Appointments with possibility of renewal
    ∑ Renewal is dependent on performance evaluation and funding availability
