    Assistant Professor Position in Computer Science (Focus Area Wearable Computing in Sports), FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Application Deadline May 31, 2017

    The Faculty of Engineering invites applications for a

    W1 Endowed Junior Professorship for Computer Science

    at the Department of Computer Science to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Depending on successful evaluation the appointment will be extended for another three years.

    The successful candidate is expected to represent the field adequately in teaching and research, with a focus in the areas of sports, health, and medical engineering. For the successful candidate, an original research and teaching profile in one or more of the following subject areas is required:

    • Computer Science in Sports, in particular for body area networks and mobile computing systems
    • Modeling and Simulation, in particular for optimal control of biomechanical multi-body systems with applications in sports
    • Functional assessment with methods from sensor data fusion, signal analysis, and machine learning, in order to assign mainly biomechanical, but also physiological and psychological properties of individuals to groups

    The successful candidate is furthermore expected to establish and to lead an independent research group at the Department of Computer Science, and to conduct industry-oriented applied research, in particular with the adidas AG that funds this professorship. A general willingness to participate in teaching in the degree programs Computer Science and Medical Engineering is presumed.

    Prerequisites for the position are a university degree in computer science or engineering sciences, university level teaching experience and a doctoral degree.
