Division of Physical Therapy Education

Position Description:
12-month appointment
Opportunity to make application for tenure

Earned academic doctorate degree strongly preferred
Will consider applicant with advanced masters degree and intent to
obtain academic doctorate
Must be eligible for physical therapy licensure in Nebraska
Minimum three years clinical and/or teaching experience

Professional Environment:
University: The University of Nebraska Medical Center is an academic
health sciences center, with Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and
Program: The Division of Physical Therapy Education is an educational
unit within the College of Medicine. The program has been in existence for
30 years and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of
Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The core faculty consists of 9.45 FTE.
Five core faculty members hold academic doctorate degrees. Administrative
support is significant, with 3.0 FTE staff. Mean duration of employment in
Physical Therapy Education for faculty and staff is 9 years.
The mission of the program is to prepare entry-level generalists.
Consistent with this mission is a three-year, broad-based curriculum
culminating in the award of an entry-level MPT degree. Over the past five
years, the first-time pass rate on the national licensure examination for
program graduates has averaged 97%.
Facilities: The program is housed in the campus Student Life Center
(constructed in 1995), which contains program laboratories, classrooms, and
the Clinical Movement Science Laboratory (CMSL). The CMSL offers
multi-channel EMG, motion analysis, force platform, treadmill, and
metabolic gas analysis. Independent and collaborative research
opportunities exist within the program and within the university.
