Dear all,
I am currently investigating the prevalence and degree of bilateral limb
length asymmetry in the racing Thoroughbred horse. At present I am trying
to find answers to the following questions
1) how do specific bones 'know' what length to grow to?
2) why do comparable left and right bones grow to (basically) the same
length?

Whilst I have plenty of information on the physiology and endocrinology of
bone growth, I am having no luck locating information about growth
triggers/homeostatic mechanisms etc. which may help me answer the above
questions.
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kaf
