Mel Siff is one of the principles in a new discussion group that
focuses on strength training. Mel is an expert in biomechanics and
related subject fields and posts regularly to the Biomechanics and Sport
Psychology discussion groups. He was a professor in the Biomechanics
field in South Africa and has lived in Colorado where he does research and
consulting work in more recent years. According to the E-Groups website
description, this list is a discussion group for the following:

The SUPERTRAINING egroup discusses all issues concerning the theory and
practical application of sports science, biomechanics, physiology,
medicine, philosophy and psychology in sport, fitness and general health.
It pays special attention to the role of strength and power training in
Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding and general fitness. It
covers topics including weight and machine training, flexibility,
stretching, periodisation, plyometrics, Russian training 'secrets', sports
restoration and massage, nutrition, mental preparation, disability
training and injury management. It encourages the serious questioning of
much of the fitness and training information to which coaches, students,
instructors, athletes, health professionals and the public are exposed
daily, because far too much dogma, inaccurate information and belief are
passed on as fact in the burgeoning fitness, sports and health markets
today. It intends that interaction among its members will serve as a
valuable free source of useful information and education.

The SUPERTRAINING egroup is devoted to creating a supportive
community of seekers after the truth in all aspects of human performance
to enable all members to enhance their quality of life and performance in
as many ways as possible. Anyone with similar aspirations is welcome to
join this group. Those who will find this forum especially useful will be
those working professionally in or have a deep interest in strength
training, sports conditioning, fitness, Weightlifting, Powerlifting,
Bodybuilding, sports science, injury management, personal training and
healthy living.
