Announcement of Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor
Position for Academic Year 2000-2001
One-Year Appointment

The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Texas Tech
University is seeking a person for a one-year appointment for the 2000-2001
academic year.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate
biomechanics courses with additional teaching responsibilities in one or
more of the following areas: adapted physical activities, measurement and
evaluation, concepts of exercise science. Other teaching assignments may be
included as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate should hold the terminal degree,
or be ABD, in the area of biomechanics.

RANK AND SALARY: Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be effective Fall Semester,

THE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY: The Department of HPER is housed in the
College of Arts and Sciences. The Bachelor of Science is offered, as well
as the Master of Science and the Master of Science in Sports Health.
Seven-hundred and seventy undergraduate students are currently enrolled in
programs in fitness and wellness promotion, teacher preparation, and health
education. Approximately 60 graduate students, at various stages of
matriculation, take advantage of specialties in motor behavior, sport
psychology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, educational foundations, and
sport management. Texas Tech University is a state supported coeducational
institution with a student population of 25,000 located in the West Texas
city of Lubbock. The campus is a 1,839 acre tract, making it one of the
largest in the nation. The Spanish Renaissance style red tile roofed
buildings are surrounded by expansive lawns and impressive landscaping. The
university is well equipped not only for research and study, but also for
varied cultural and recreational activities.
