Comments on Mel Siff's remarks on the article "Toward an
Understanding of Power"

I generally found it to be a waste of time
trying to convince people of a standard similar to that of the author
of that article, of the necessity to be scientifically correct when
using precisely defined physical terms in some popular context. The
case quoted by Mel is certainly a particularly bad example and I am
tempted to suggest a complete reshuffle of the math/physics
department of which Dr. L is chairman. Provided, of course, the
contents of the reply of the article author to Mel's letter to the
editor are correct, which may not be so certain.

I agreee with Mel that the problem becomes a serious one when such
large bodies as the NSCA are involved. However, as I said above, it
usually turns out to be a waste of time and effort trying to convert
ignorant people.
