Title: Computational Research Engineer
Location: Human Performance Laboratory, University of Calgary, Calgary AB,

The Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) is seeking a computational research
engineer to help develop computer simulation models to study the effects of
footwear and orthotics on the movement and loading of the lower extremity. The
candidate will have at minimum a Masters degree in engineering and significant
experience in finite element analysis (FEA). The FEA experience should ideally
include modeling of materials with large deformations and physical
nonlinearities, as well as modeling finite viscoelasticity of compressible
rubber/foam. Familiarity with either the MARC or ABAQUS software packages will
be an asset. The successful candidate will operate as part of a team of
biomechanical engineers and students.

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The HPL is a leader in both basic and applied research relating to human neuro -
musculo - skeletal health and well-being, from birth to advanced age. Major
topics of research include movement related injuries; osteoarthritis; muscle
mechanics; ankle and knee joint mechanics; and orthotics, sports shoes, and
sport surfaces. The HPL offers an outstanding working environment as one of the
largest and best equipped research centres for musculo-skeletal research as it
relates to movement and exercise.
