POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDY AT
SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERSITY, LISMORE,
AUSTRALIA

Southern Cross University comprises rapidly expanding semi-rural campuses
on the North Coast of NSW. The University is rapidly developing its
research profile across a range of fields of study, and possesses modern,
well equipped research facilities. Postgraduate supervision for Masters (by
research) and PhD degrees is offered in the following areas:

Exercise Science:
enhancement of human performance, exercise and aging, exercise and
neuromuscular function, exercise and cardiorespiratory function, women
athletes, nutritional supplements and drugs.

Sport Management:
Sport marketing, sport sponsorship, organisational change and
effectiveness, event and facility management, sport policy and governance.

Supervision in other areas may be arranged upon application.

Applications are invited from highly motivated graduates for Australian
Postgraduate Awards (APAs) for full-time internal study towards Masters by
thesis and PhD degrees. Benefits of an APA include a minimum non-taxable
living allowance of $17,071 pa (2000). Travel and removal assistance, and
certain other allowances are available. In addition, Southern Cross
University offers a large number of University Scholarships for full-time
PhD or Masters by thesis to assist those who are not successful in
receiving an APA, but who nevertheless have demonstrated research
potential. Two grades of scholarship are available - University
Postgraduate Research Scholarship (UPRS) at $14,000 p.a. and Postgraduate
Research Support Scholarship (PRSS) at $10,000 p.a. There are two rounds
annually, the first closing on 31st October, and the second closing on 31st
May. One International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (paying fees)
also is available, in the October round. All eligible applicants for a
University scholarship will be considered for the IPRS automatically. A
separate application is not required.

Applications for the first round for 2001 close on 31st October, 2000.
