DEPARTMENT OF SPORT SCIENCES

Six Lectureships A/B - £18,731-£30,967 pa, plus £l,506 pa LA

Brunel Universityıs Department of Sport Sciences has built on its earlier
traditions developed on its Borough Road site, and now enjoys an established
reputation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research in the
Sport Sciences, and in Sport.

The Department is currently research active in Sport Psychology,
Socio-cultural aspects of Sport, Physiology of Sport and Exercise and
Biomechanics of Sport. Currently located at our Osterley Campus, we are
however considering plans to move to our Uxbridge campus within the next 2-4
year period in order to provide our students and courses with the most
up-to-date facilities and equipment.

Candidates for all posts should, ideally, have a PhD (or be working towards
a doctorate) (consideration will however be given to young applicants who
would register for a PhD in the Department), be experienced in, and expected
to contribute to, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the discipline
and undertaking research. They should be willing to contribute to the broad
base of courses in the Department, to teach in research methods and/or
statistics courses and to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate
dissertations. A willingness to be involved in aspects of the Departmentıs
management and coaching/aspects of student sport will be an advantage.

In addition to the above, we seek for the posts:

Lecturer (2 posts) in Biomechanics of Sport (Post Ref B6126/1)
Candidates are particularly sought with a developing record of research, the
ability to contribute to the research culture of the sub-discipline and to
the broad base of programmes by offering another sub-discipline.

Lecturer in Sport Psychology (Post Ref B6127/1)
Experience in teaching some aspect of Sport Psychology together with a
developing record of research in that area is expected.

Lecturer in Coaching Sciences (Post Ref B6129/1)
We seek applicants with expertise in any aspect of Coaching Sciences, with
coaching experience and an interest in and willingness to pursue research in
one of the branches of coaching and/or sport.

Lecturer (2 posts) in Social Sciences of Sport (Post Ref B6128/1)
Ideally candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following
areas: sports management, policy and development; sport and disability;
sport and age; sport, race and ethnicity and/or history of sport; a
developing record of research with the ability to contribute to the research
culture of the sub-discipline and the ability to take charge of programme
development in the social sciences area.
