Dear Colleagues,
I am relatively new to the use of electromyography and I
have been discussing issues relating to normalisation of
EMG data with some research students. Could anyone guide
me as to whether it is usual to normalise EMG data by
expressing the EMG value during the acticivy of interest as
a percentage of the activity measured during maximal
voluntary contraction and therefore use the percentage
value for statistical analysis, or to divide the EMG
activity (in millivolts) by the EMG activity (in
millivolts) obtained during maximal voluntary contraction
and use the ratio for statistcal analysis? Or are there any
other/better ways than these?

Any responses will be posted.

Many Thanks in anticipation

D Glenn Hunter.
