Department Chairperson

Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Chairperson and
Professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering. Candidates must have
a terminal degree in engineering and must be a registered Professional
Engineer or be qualified for registration. Preference will be given to a
candidate with a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. Successful candidates
must possess excellent leadership, communication and managerial skills as
well as experience in research and understand its role in undergraduate and
graduate Industrial Engineering education.

Texas Tech University is one of four public multidisciplinary universities
in the state of Texas and has more than 25,000 students. The College of
Engineering consists of the Departments of Chemical, Civil, Electrical,
Industrial, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering, and Departments of
Technology and Computer Science. Enrollment in the College is approximately
2,350 undergraduates and 380 graduate students. The Department of
Industrial Engineering has 110 undergraduate students, 50 graduate students
and 12 faculty. Major academic and research thrusts are in ergonomics,
manufacturing systems, quality/reliability, operations research and
engineering management.

Lubbock, a city of 200,000, is the major trade and medical center on the
Texas South Plains. Its 3,250 foot elevation results in a mild climate.
Numerous opportunities are present for both cultural and outdoor activities.
