The Drebbel Institute for Mechatronics organizes the 3rd Workshop on
European and Industrial Collaboration in the area of Mechatronics (WESIC
from June 27-29 2001: http://www.rt.el.utwente.nl/wesic/

One of the themes of this conference is 'Biomedical Systems /
This theme will concentrate on technology for interaction with the human
motor system for supporting and training motor function

The Biomedical Systems / Biomechatronics theme of the WESIC conference will
- Plenary presentation by Dr. Saso Jezernik, Automatic Control Laboratory,
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH):
topic: Relearning gait in Spinal Cord Injured and Stroke persons using
robotic technology (for information see:
http://www.aut.ee.ethz.ch/~jezernik/research.msql )
- abstracts are invited for the Biomechatronics sessions (author
information: see http://www.rt.el.utwente.nl/wesic/)

Important deadlines:
15 January 2001 Submission of abstracts
15 February 2001 Notification of acceptance
15 April 2001 Submission of full paper in electronic form

Please note, that this workshop immediately follows the Posture and Gait
conference ISPG in Maastricht (also in the Netherlands) (June 23-27 2001)
(http://www.mbfys.kun.nl/ispg2001). The Biomechatronics theme of the WESIC
conference will be interesting for ISPG attendees who are interested in
technical systems for the interaction with the human neuromuscular system
for improving motor function.
