The Institute of Orthopedic Research and Education in Houston, Texas, under
the direction of Philip Noble, Ph.D., has an opening for an engineer
interested in orthopedic biomechanics research. The laboratory is dedicated
to the design and evaluation of total hip replacement (THR) systems. Areas
of focus include simulation of prosthetic function during functional
activities in a cadaveric model and fixation of designed components into
their host bones. Experimental studies are conducted in conjunction with
dynamic computer simulation, finite element analysis and visualization of
joint motion before and after THR.

Specific duties include:
Perform experimental and theoretical research studies in biomechanics and/or
biomaterials.
Analysis of experimental data.
Development of computer visualization and simulation software routines.
Development and construction of experimental testing devices, both hardware
and software.
Will have the opportunity to work with other engineers, technicians, medical
students, residents, fellows, and clinical faculty.

Qualifications:
The desired candidate should have an MS degree in mechanical or biomedical
engineering or a BS in mechanical or biomedical engineering with knowledge
