Dear Subscribers:

Thanks to all who responded to my original message regarding the
geometries of commercially available total knee prosthesis. Below is
the original message and a summary of replies:

Original message:

Dear Subscribers,

I am writing to ask for help in finding information on the geometry of
total knee replacement components. I am looking at the effects of
ligament imbalance in total knee replacement surgery and require
information on the specific geometry of the femoral and tibial
components. This information is not easily obtained from the
manufacturers and I have not been able to find published data.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. A summary of replies will be
posted.

Thanks for your help,

Scott Illsley

Summary of replies:

-A study about the ligaments influence in total knee replacement is
reported in our paper Martelli S. et al. , J Arthroplasty , v.13, n.2,
1998, pp. 145-155, for INTERAX prosthesis.

-J.D. Des Jardins, H. Haider, P.S. Walker, The use of a force-controlled
dynamic knee simulator to quantify the mechanical performance of total
knee replacement designs during functional activity. Journal of
Biomechanics, Vol. 33/10, pp. 1231-1242, 2000.

-Wilson, B.D. Knee ligament length changes during walking. Iowa PhD
thesis Microform publications, 1980. Contains 3D coordinates
of knee ligament attachment sites for a number (10?) of cadaver knees.
Brief publication in Biomechanics IV or V.

Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated!
