Hello Biomch-L subscribers,

My name is Mike Anderson, I am a graduate student in Bioengineering at the
University of Utah. I am currently searching the literature trying to
learn more about the current state-of-the-art in cartilage tissue
implants. What I mean by that is that cartilage cells are grown using one
of several tissue engineering techniques, and then injected/implanted into
the site of a cartilage tear/injury. The meniscus is usually the location
of implantation. I am searching for references that list the mechanical
properties that would be desired in the "ideal" cartilage implant. I'm
aware that different types of cartilage have different mechanical
properties, and there may not be a straightforward answer to my question,
but if anyone could refer me to some papers that I may have missed on this
subject, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Mike Anderson
