The College of Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU) is pleased
to announce the creation of new M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Biomedical
Engineering. The program will be administered through the Ag and Bio
Engineering Department at MSU and will be working closely with the College
of Veterinary Medicine at MSU, the University of MS Medical Center in
Jackson, Jackson State University, and Mississippi University for Women.
There are currently 17 Biomedical Engineering faculty, including members at
the College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Mississippi Medical

Research areas include biomaterials/biomechanics, tissue engineering,
ergonomics/human factors, and biosimulation/modeling.

A small number of highly-competitive graduate assistantships will be
available beginning in the fall of 2001 for Ph.D. students. Women and
minorities are encouraged to apply. Interested students may obtain
