View Full Version : Ulnar-radial forces at the distal radius ulna joint

Dear Biomech-L subscribers

Removal of the distal ulna following distal radius fracture is associated with several complications. I have been asked by a colleague about prosthetically replacing the distal radius-ulnar joint. This requires knowledge about the distal 'clamping' (in the ulnar-radial direction) force between the ulna and radius during external loading (ie pinch and grip). There is very scant information on this in the literature although there is plenty concerning the axial forces acting through the radius from the carpus.

If anyone is or has undertaken research in this area, please let me know. Any references would also be very helpful.

Results will be summarised and posted

Many thanks in advance
