View Full Version : Accelerations within the thorax

A colleague of mine is interested in artificial hearts, and would like
to know the acceleration of tissues in the vicinity of the heart when
a person walks, jogs or falls. I am familiar with research that has placed
accelerometers on the legs and on bite bars, but I do not know of efforts
that would address my colleague's problem.

I am also familiar with pills that one swallows that allow intra-abdominal
pressure to be recorded. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with
an "accelerometer pill" that one could swallow that would record
accelerations within the stomach during various physical activities.

If anyone has information that could assist, could you please send it
to Renee Gerhart at: rkasper@bme.ri.ccf.org

Thanks, Brian
