University of Minnesota
Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering

The University of Minnesota Department of Mechanical Engineering invites
applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position in
biomedical engineering. Rank of assistant or associate professor will depend
on qualifications and experience of the candidate. We are particularly
interested in candidates having biomedical background(s) which interface
well with ongoing areas of strength in the department, which include:
bioheat transfer, biomechanics, MEMs, and medical device design; however,
all biomedical engineering areas will be considered. It is highly desirable
that the candidate's research program involve work with living systems
(i.e., cells and tissues). Candidates must have a doctorate in mechanical
engineering, biomedical engineering or a related field of science by the
beginning date of appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active, externally
funded research program, initiate interdisciplinary collaborations, and have
a strong commitment to excellent teaching. Excellent opportunities exist for
interaction with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Medical School
and biomedical device companies around the Twin Cities.

The target date for receipt of applications is
January 1, 2002. The search will remain open until the position is filled;
interviews will begin March/April 2002. Applicants should submit a letter
of application, curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching
interests, and three letters of references to:
