Faculty Position in Motor Behavior
Appointment Effective September 1, 2002

POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track appointment

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses in an area of Motor Behavior,
conducting nationally visible, fundable research, and supervising
master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in an area of Motor Behavior with
demonstrated ability to conduct research and acquire external funding.
Evidence of positive teaching is desirable. The successful applicant
will be expected to interface positively with current faculty in the
Exercise Sciences and have an active role in developing a graduate
concentration in Motor Behavior. Startup funding is available, and the
successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with other

faculty interested in motor behavior through the interdisciplinary
doctoral program in Biomechanics and Movement Science.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Located in Newark, Delaware, the University of
Delaware is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the
country combining tradition and innovation and offering students a rich
heritage combined with the latest instructional and research
technology. The Department of Health and Exercise Sciences is the
largest and fastest growing academic unit in the College of Health and
Nursing Sciences, possessing over 600 student majors participating in
four undergraduate degree programs that include Health and Physical
Education, Health Behavior Management, Athletic Training, and Exercise
Science. Graduate programs support over 60 students and provide
advanced research oriented study in Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology,
and Health Promotion. State of the art laboratories support the
Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology programs. The Department is
involved in offering the BS, MS, and PhD degrees supported by
approximately 30 full time faculty/professionals who possess strong
interdisciplinary backgrounds.

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and
