POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT

EUROPEAN FUNDED PROJECT


A post doctoral scientist is required to work in the research project "Novel
Intervertebral Disc Prostheses" funded by the European Union 5th Framework
"Growth" Project.

The ideal candidate will have a background in cell biology, biochemistry and
biomaterials. Cell Culture experience is essential, in particular bone
marrow stem cell (BMSC) isolation. Molecular biology experience would be an
advantage. The researcher will be responsible for developing specific cell
models involving BMSC and chondrocyte isolation and culture and the
preparation of cell-loaded scaffolds.

This is a key position for the running of the first half of the research
consortium and will carry responsibilities for the production of a novel
intervertebral disc.

The full time position is for a period of two years in the first instance on
the RAIA scale (Salary in the range 20,605 to 22,401 inclusive of London
Allowance).
