Job Description

The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking
a well-trained, highly motivated individual to manage a laboratory that
conducts research investigating postural control and vestibular
rehabilitation using a state of the art virtual environment facility called
the BNAVE. The Department of Otolaryngology is located in the heart of
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center campus. It is one of the leading
institutions performing vestibular and balance research.

The candidate will prepare subjects for experiment by applying different
biomedical sensors, prepare equipment for experiment, run data acquisition
programs during experiment, and verify accurate collection of data. This
individual will also modify and develop data acquisition software using
Labview, modify and develop human motion analysis software using Matlab,
integrate data acquisition and virtual environment software, and debug
software. The selected candidate will be responsible for analysis of
collected data using custom written software, collation of data into
spreadsheet and statistical packages for further analysis, and the creation
of written summaries for results. Other responsibilities of the position
include: Installing and maintaining new versions of operating systems and
software, cataloging and archiving old versions of software, maintaining
electronic equipment and purchasing new equipment when the current equipment
becomes outdated.

Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated
organizational abilities are needed for collaborative teamwork with
clinicians, researchers, and users of the virtual environment facility.
Qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering or
related field, plus 5 years of related experience.
