Hello,

Can anyone point me in the right direction towards finding a suitable finite element model to simulate fracture of the lower leg.
The limb fractures due to impact from a fast-moving bar.

The resulting model will be implemented into an explicit dynamic finite element code similar to LS-DYNA. In the department we have developed a model where stored energy at fracture of an element is transferred to the nodes in the form of kinetic energy. The main problem with this model is that it doesn't take into account of any softening before fracture.

Does anyone know of any publications/authors who have done some work in this field??

Thanks,
Matthew
