Dear All,

We are conducting a study of hip fractures in the elderly patient and found that there is some disagreement about the force necessary to cause a fracture in the neck and/or the trochanter. We hve created models that may be applicable but the models are very sensitive to the angle of the applied force which diminishes as a function of the cosine. This relatively pure model may not be applicable to real life situations.

We would be interested in any avaliable data as well as references. We have searched several databases (Medline, etc.) but have not found useful refernce data.

We will publish all replies.

Regards & Happy New Year to All
