The Midwest Graduate Students' Biomechanics Symposium for 2002 will be held
on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal, IL on Friday March 22
and Saturday March 23, 2002.

Thanks to the generous support of the American Society of Biomechanics, the
symposium will include the traditional student presentations and three
keynote speakers, including
Dr. Irene McClay, University of Delaware
Dr. Geza Kogler, Southern Illinois University at Springfield
Dr. Mark Grabiner, University of Illinois at Chicago

The symposium will open with a keynote lecture on Friday evening, followed
by a social. On Saturday, two keynote lectures will be scheduled around the
typical symposium format of student podium presentations.

Students at all levels are encouraged to present in the friendly, receptive
milieu of the Symposium. In the past, presentations have ranged from
students in the formative stage of developing a research project through to
students giving dry runs of a dissertation defense or an international

Students interested in presenting at the Symposium must submit (email to
smccaw@ilstu.edu) an abstract by February 28. An abstract consists of a
title, author(s) affiliations, and a brief description of the study. At
least 15 minutes will be provided for each student presentation, with the
actual time to be determined by the number of submissions. In accordance
with the informal nature of the symposium, presentations will be accepted
on a first come-first accepted basis.

A variety of hotel-motel accommodations are available at reasonable cost
around Bloomington-Normal, IL.

More information on the symposium will be available on a website in due time.
