Assistant Professor in Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British
Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the
Assistant Professor level in Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems. The
starting date will be July 1, 2002, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in
Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field and will be
expected to register as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. We are
interested in candidates with research expertise that blends mechanics with
the field of neuroscience and cognitive systems. Industrial experience in
related areas is an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to
develop strong research collaborations with the Faculty of Medicine and
will be eligible for associate faculty status in an appropriate unit in the
Faculty of Medicine. The Department currently has a formal collaboration
with the Faculty of Medicine through the Division of Orthopaedic
Engineering Research (www.mech.ubc.ca/~doer). Further information on the
