Hi,

I'm a Ph.D. student in human factors engineering at the University of New
Brunswick. We are using a Cybex II dynamometer to record torque data during
knee extensions. The unit was originally intended for unilateral movements,
however we are trying to modify it for bilateral knee extensions. The
maximum torque output allowed for the unit is 360 ft-lbs for isometric and
240 ft-lbs for dynamic contractions.

We are currently investigating the use of a planetary gear to reduce the
torque for bilateral contractions to prevent damage to the load cell. Has
anyone modified a unit like this for bilateral contractions?

Any help would be appreciated.
