Assistant Professor - Biomechanics

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Kinesiology invites
applications for a full time academic position at the
Assistant Professor level as a biomechanist with a research
interest in human locomotion, from the muscle fibre level to
whole body level.

With 75% of time protected for research, this position
offers an excellent opportunity to develop an independent
research program, within a multidisciplinary research
environment, through collaboration with members of the
internationally renowned Human Performance Laboratory, Sport
Medicine Centre, and Joint Injury and Arthritis Research
Group. The successful candidate will also contribute to
teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the
Faculty of Kinesiology.

The successful candidate must compete successfully for
salary support and an establishment grant from an external
agency such as the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical
Research or the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

The Faculty of Kinesiology is in the process of building a
major new research facility related to "Nutrition, Genetics
& Human Performance" and a new research and clinical Health
and Wellness Centre. The University of Calgary's Faculties
of Kinesiology, Medicine, and Engineering have a dynamic
partnership and outstanding research facilities and
personnel in biomechanics, bone and joint health, and
biomedical engineering (www.kin.ucalgary.ca).

Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent, and post-
doctoral experience is desirable.
