Project Bioengineer

Salary (L20,059 pa)

Duration: 2 years full time

ORLAU (Orthotics Research and Locomotor Assessment Unit) is a department within the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic
and District Hospital, Oswestry. It carries out clinical and research work, dealing with adults and children with walking problems. Over
the years ORLAU has gained an international reputation within the fields of orthotics and movement analysis.

A new vacancy has now arisen for a Project Bioengineer within the Movement Analysis Service. The successful candidate will join a
multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic consultants, physiotherapists, bioengineers and technicians, supported by administrative, secretarial
and engineering staff. The Project Bioengineer will be responsible for implementing a programme of project work, under the supervision
of existing staff. Projects will be predominantly aimed at technical service development, with some possibilities for research.

The successful candidate will be an engineering graduate with additional relevant experience. Postgraduate qualifications, previous industrial
experience and/or Grade A Clinical Scientist training would be ideal. Additional expertise in,
* Gait analysis / electromyography
* Biomechanical Modelling
* Finite Element Analysis
* Signal Processing
* Software development / programming
would be desirable, though not essential.

The post will provide opportunities for appropriate training and career development, leading towards Registration as a Clinical Scientist. A
permanent contract will be considered at the end of the 2 year fixed term.
