Cell and Tissue Engineering
Laboratory for Soft Tissue Research
Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City

The Laboratory for Soft Tissue Research is seeking a post-doctoral candidate
to initiate new research efforts in cell and tissue engineering of
musculoskeletal tissues (cartilage, ligament, meniscus). The laboratory is
involved in the development of novel biological and bioengineering
approaches for the replacement, repair and rehabilitation of soft tissues.
Interested candidates should have a Ph.D. in engineering or a related
science (e.g., physics, chemistry) with a background in biomechanics or
biophysics. Knowledge of cell and tissue biology is desirable but not
necessary. The post-doctoral position is available for up to three years.

The laboratory's environment is multidisciplinary with expertise in
biochemistry, histochemistry, cell physiology, gene therapy, molecular
biology, bioengineering and imaging. The LSTR is affiliated with the Weil
Medical College of Cornell University, the Department of Biomedical
Engineering at the City University of New York, and the Physics Department
at Fordham University. Opportunities for collaborative research and teaching
exist. Interested applicants should have U.S. citizenship or permanent
