McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine

University of Pittsburgh

The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of
Pittsburgh is inviting applications for a
Post-Doctoral fellowship. The specific project is concerned with a
cellular-based experimental study of blood
flow, cellular mechanics, and cellular trauma with emphasis on
blood-wetted artificial organs. This research
will be conducted within a multidisciplinary a research and design team
consisting of clinicians, engineers and
students. There is a strong collaboration with Carnegie Mellon
University's computer scientists and the
Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center. The job responsibilities will be
primarily experimental, but will require an
understanding of fluid dynamics. This position is available immediately.

Qualifications: A Ph.D in biomedical engineering, mechanical
engineering or related discipline is required.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in tissue
mechanics, cell mechanics, biorheology, and
fluid mechanics. Excellent experimental skills with particular emphasis
on flow visualization and/or microscopy
would be valuable. The experience with micro-electrical mechanical
system (MEMS), image analysis, computer
