The Department of Sport and Exercise Science seeks applicants for a
permanent position in the area of biomechanics.

The Department houses a state of the art biomechanics and gait
laboratory with modern 8-camera Motion Analysis system, multiple force
plate and EMG capabilites suitable for all gait, sport and related
biomechanics research. Information on the Department is also available

The University of Auckland is New Zealand's largest research and
teaching institution and is based in New Zealand's major city. The
University has agreements and alliances with over 70 universities around
the world and maintains a wide range of international contacts at
institutional and faculty level and between individual academic staff.
The University of Auckland is the only New Zealand university invited to
become a member of Universitas 21, an international network of research
intensive universities which cooperate towards high educational quality
and international visibility.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong
independent research program in his/her area of expertise, and teach
biomechanics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must
hold a doctoral qualification, have experience in biomechanics and a
demonstrated record of publication in international peer-reviewed
journals. A particular emphasis in sport biomechanics and/or physical
ergonomics may also be desirable, as well as clearly identifiable
potential synergies with current research activities in the Department.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching as well as supervise postgraduate students.
Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to attract external
research grants and be prepared to develop and strengthen relationships
with industry and government agencies. Appointment at Senior Lecturer
level will be considered for applicants with a significant track record
in research, teaching and postgraduate supervision.
