Southern California Biomedical Engineering Opportunities


Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. (AMO) located in Orange County California, is the world's second largest surgical company in the markets in which it competes, and the world's second largest contact lens care company. Mechanical Engineer
This newly created position will be a key team member in the design and development of intraocular lenses (IOL), IOL insertion systems, and related packaging. It will provide mechanical design of product and manufacturing tooling support with the aid of Mechanical Desktop software, and software support for manufacturing equipment utilizing CNC and C++ software for process development.



Candidates must have a BSME and proficiency with CNC and C++. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year experience in the medical device industry.



Mechanical Engineer
This newly created position is a key team member in the design and development of intraocular lenses, insertion systems and related packaging. In addition, the engineer will participate in the transfer of these things, once they are developed, to the manufacturing site and will be involved with identifying, qualifying, and managing subcontractors and suppliers.



Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of one year experience in the medical device industry using CAD. Experience with Mechanical Desktop, SolidWorks, or Pro/E highly desirable.



Senior Engineer
This newly created position will be a key team member in the design and development of intraocular lenses (IOL), IOL insertion systems, and related packaging. It will assist the Material's Research group to assure identification of appropriate plastics and other chemical entities required for IOL's, insertion systems and related packaging.


Candidates must have a BSME and a minimum of three years related work experience in development of medical products (plastics preferred). Must have proven expertise in 3D modeling and should be able to demonstrate history of significant contributions to medical product design and development.
