Canada Research Chair, Tier II, in Biomedical Engineering

The Faculty of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University invites
applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Biomedical
Engineering. This position will be a joint appointment between the School of
Engineering Science and the School of Kinesiology. Applicants are expected
to have an outstanding and innovative research program, a strong commitment
to excellence in research and teaching, and a strong record of publication,
research funding, and student supervision and instruction. Preference will
be given to candidates with a first degree in engineering. CRC Tier II
appointments will normally be made at the tenure track Associate professor

Simon Fraser University is consistently one of the top-ranked universities
in Canada. The Faculty of Applied Sciences has made a commitment to develop
a new Biomedical Engineering Program which will build upon existing
strengths in biomedical engineering in the Schools of Kinesiology (see
http://fas.sfu.ca/kin ) and Engineering Science (see
www.ensc.sfu.ca ). Furthermore, the School of
Engineering is at the outset of a phase of strong growth, which will involve
nearly doubling the number of faculty and students over the next four yearsThe candidate will be expected to help spearhead the development of a new
Center for Biomedical Engineering which will encourage interdisciplinary
research and build upon existing strengths at Simon Fraser University in
areas such as (but not limited to) engineering for independent living
(assistive and health monitoring devices), gerontology, neuroprosthetics,
physiological systems, rehabilitation engineering and robotics.
