Postdoctoral Associate

Stating date: 1 June 2003; position will remain open until a suitable
candidate is found.

Postdoctoral Research Associate is sought to participate in ongoing
NIH sponsored project on Muscle Function During Animal Movement.
Current work focuses on muscle function during running and jumping
using guinea fowl and frogs. Work on isolated muscles is also planned.

Qualifications: Individual must have a Ph.D. in an area related to
muscle function and/or biomechanics during movement. Preferred skills
should include some of the following: the ability to work with in
vitro muscle preparations; experience with video or film recording
techniques; experience with sonomicrometry to measure muscle length;
experience with electromyography techniques; experience with
biomechanical calculations from kinematic and force plate data;
experience with aseptic surgery with animal subjects. Individual must
be comfortable with experiments involving living vertebrate animals,
including mammals, birds, and amphibians.
