Dear Biomch-L Colleagues
Does anyone have any information/data on the maximum moment that can be applied to joints of the lower limbs due to active muscle contraction? The active moments supplied by the muscles as an overall contribution to the joint i.e. all of the knee extensors acting to produce one moment. I realise this will vary between subjects due to muscle strength but any value would be a good starting point.
I am looking for maximum moments for the hip in abduction / adduction, flexion / extension and internal / external rotation, the knee in flexion / extension as well as the ankle in dorsiflexion / plantarflexion, inversion / eversion and internal / external rotation. Results from strength tests on volunteer subjects and not pretensioning of cadaveric.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
All the best
Hampus Olsson
