sorry for cross-posting

After a long waiting I found the time to post on the BEL Repository
the Muscle Standardised Femur, a model announced in a letter to the
Editor of the Journal of Biomechanics. The procedure used to create
the model was described in detail in a paper recently published.

- Viceconti M, Ansaloni M, Baleani M, Toni A. The muscle standardised
femur. J Biomech. 2003 Jan;36(1):145-6.

- Viceconti M, Ansaloni M, Baleani M, Toni A.The muscle standardized
femur: a step forward in the replication of numerical studies in
biomechanics. Proc Inst Mech Eng [H]. 2003;217(2):105-10.

This model is a version of the Standardised Femur, on which the areas
of insertion of the principal muscle groups were defined as separate
surface patches. This makes much easier to create finite element
models in which the muscle insertion is accurately modelled. the
first study that used this models will be soon published on IMechE
Transactions:

- K. Polgár, H. S. Gill, M. Viceconti, D. W. Murray, J. J. O'Connor.
Strain distribution within the human femur due to physiological and
simplified loading: Finite Element Analysis using the Muscle
Standardised Femur model. Proc Inst Mech Eng [H]. 2003, in press.

The model, is available in Unigraphics, Parasolid and IGES format and
can be freely downloaded from:

what immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry?
