05-19-2003, 12:06 PM
A three year PhD stipend ($18,009 p.a. tax free) is available for a
suitable student to examine the effects of limb dynamics upon human motor
learning. Applicants should possess a First Class Honours degree or
completed Masters degree (with thesis) in the area of motor control,
neuroscience, biomechanics, biomedical engineering or a related field.

The primary focus of the research will be to understand the interactions
between novel limb dynamics and the neural processes of motor learning.
Experience in biomechanical (kinematic, kinetic, servo-control) and
neurophysiological (e.g. EMG, Transcranial magnetic stimulation)
techniques would be an asset.
The work will take place in the Perception and Motor Systems
Laboratory in the School of Human Movement Studies at the University of
Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Information about the school can be
found at

Information about the University School of Graduate Studies
including scholarships and fees can be found at

To apply, please forward your application (including CV, academic
record, contact details of 3 referees and a statement on research
interests), by email to sriek@hms.uq.edu.au, by July 1, 2003
