FORMAT: Invited lectures from international experts will be
complemented by podium and poster presentations from symposium
participants. Also special sessions on invited topics will be
included.

THE 6th SYMPOSIUM WILL ALSO OFFER TWO NEW PRIZES AS FOLLOWS:

The Taylor & Francis prize for outstanding innovation in computer
methods in biomechanics & biomedical engineering (700 euros)


The Meditech and Welsh Develop Agency prize for best student
presentation (700 euros)

The prize winners will be invited to publish this work in the Journal
Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering.

Dental Mechanics

** Modelling and response of tissue and materials: dental restorative
materials, implant design, loading and osseointegration, cements and
ceramics, tissue response to loads and materials, wear of occlusal
surfaces, computer assisted surgery/teaching, modelling of bone
regeneration biomaterial stimulators
** Craniofacial mechanics: jaw movement relationship to food particle
flow, skeletal pattern and masticatory function, modelling of
TMJ/occlusal behaviour, maxillofacial reconstruction procedures and
tissue engineered repair systems.
** Orthodontic appliances: modelling of appliances/brackets, material
laws for the periodontal ligament, orthodontic tooth movement, shape
memory materials, novel attachment systems

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Contributed papers will be selected on the basis of submitted
abstracts, which should be in English and are not to exceed 300 words
(one page). Abstracts are invited by 31 October 2003 and authors
will be informed of acceptance by 31st November 2003. Abstracts
should be submitted in MS Word (.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) and
emailed to middletonj2@cf.ac.uk.
