Dear All,

For those of you interested in the obscure topic of Muscle Tunnel Cineplasty - a surgical procedure used to enable the direct attachment of prostheses to muscles in the body - here are a couple of relatively recent references:

Weir, R. F. ff., Heckathorne, C. W., and Childress D. S., (2001): Cineplasty as a Control Input for Externally Powered Prosthetic Components . Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development. Vol. 38, No. 4, July/August 2001 , pp. 357 - 363.

Weir, R. F. ff., (1995): Direct Muscle Attachment as a Control Input for a Position Servo Prosthesis Controller. Ph.D. Dissertation, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, June 1995.

The dissertation contains an extensive history and bibliography on Tunnel Cineplasty as well as the use of tunnel cineplasty for the control of powered prostheses. (Abstract and citation available at http://wwwlib.umi.com/dissertations/fullcit/9537529 ).
