Description:

The Center for Musculoskeletal Research at Washington University is seeking
a full-time research engineer. The ideal candidate should have a background
in biomedical or mechanical engineering and a strong interest in tissue
engineering and in tendon injury and repair. This individual will be
involved with research being conducted in the Biomechanical Engineering
Laboratory. Responsibilities will include tissue and cell culture,
mechanical testing, animal surgery, histologic analysis, and data analysis.

The Biomechanical Engineering Laboratory is a part of the Center for
Musculoskeletal Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at
Washington University (http://www.wuorthopaedics.com/). The laboratory
maintains two servo-hydraulic Instron material testing frames, extensive
dissection and microscopy equipment, tissue culture facilities, desk space
for fellows, students and staff, and general wet lab space for specialized
experiments. Our primary soft tissue research interests include tissue
engineering of tendon and tendon to bone insertions, injury and repair of
tendon and tendon to bone insertions, and structure-function relationships
in collagen networks.

The position is available immediately and will be filled as soon as an
appropriate candidate is identified. Salary is competitive and based on

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering is
required. A master's degree and experience in orthopaedic research and
tissue engineering is desired.
