We are interested in answering the same questions as Dr. Boettcher. We also found the Bertec equipment to be much less expensive when comparing to the other major manufacturers in the field (AMTI, Kistler). Are there any caveats with Bertec equipment? Is it of lesser quality? Does the company have any difficulty supporting its clients? Is there any reason why one should *not* consider Bertec equipment?

Any information/insight that is offered welcome. Perhaps Dr. Boettcher and post the replies he receives, as will I.

Thanks in advance,

JC

I contacted the three “big” manufactures. Interestingly there a quit big
differences discussing the price for an appropriate force plate. From
6.000$ up to 12.000$. Bertec (www.bertec.com) seems to be the cheapest
company. Could someone tell me, whether the Bertec force plate (4060-08)
has any disadvantage to the other force plates (Kisterl, AMTI) so we
shouldn’t by the one from Bertec?

Sincerely yours,

Peter Böttcher.

Details of the Bertec force plate 4060-08:
- 1kHz sampling frequency
- 500 Hz dynamic range
- 16-Bit resolution
- NATURAL FREQUENCY (Hz): shear 550, vertical 340
- Built in calibration matrix
- Mass: 28kg
