CLINICAL SCIENTIST, Physical Disabilities Branch, Rehabilitation Medicine
Dept., Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center, NIH

The Physical Disabilities Branch, under the direction of Steven J. Stanhope,
Ph.D., seeks to recruit a dynamic clinical rehabilitation scientist to
assist in the expansion of a world-class research program at the National
Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Clinical Scientist will assist in the direction of a productive clinical
rehabilitation research program pertinent to the study of spasticity and
movement control abnormalities; spearhead interdisciplinary rehabilitation
research initiatives; provide medical expertise in one or more specialized
areas related to the characteristics of upper motor neuron syndrome and
spasticity management; develop and direct a clinical research training
program; function as a fully credentialed medically responsible individual
for the day-to-day operational oversight of the Human Movement Disorders
(HMD) section

The Clinical Scientist will be one of several new positions scheduled to
enhance our current team of engineers, therapists, post docs and
investigators. To date, HMD research has demonstrated a strong
technological influence in biomechanics, gait, and clinical movement
analysis. The successful candidate will take advantage of the significant
resources available to create a flourishing environment for the expansion of
the clinical aspects of rehabilitation research in the section, to achieve
an equal level of success in the clinical research realm. While applicants
with expertise in all facets of rehabilitation medicine are encouraged,
special consideration will be given to candidates with a demonstrated
background in the study of neuromusculoskeletal and developmental
disabilities.

open until filled. A Doctor of Medicine degree from a school in the United
States or Canada, approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of
the applicant's graduation is required. Candidates must have a permanent,
full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, the
District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the
United States.
