POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

SENIOR ENGINEER SCIENTIST
Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering Section
Physical Disabilities Branch
National Institutes of Health, DHHS

The Physical Disabilities Branch, under the direction of Steven J. Stanhope,
Ph.D., seeks to recruit a dynamic, highly skilled technical expert in
clinical movement analysis and clinical biomechanics methodologies. The
Senior Engineer will assist in the expansion of a world-class research
program at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.



The Senior Engineer will develop, implement, and effectively support a
robust basic and translational research program; spearhead the formalization
of a training program in the area of clinical movement analysis for
rehabilitation medicine; and support the clinical research and patient care
applications in the Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center, the world's largest
research hospital.



In the fall of 2004, the Senior Engineer will assume direction of the
Biomechanics Laboratory of the PDB, supervising the activities of
contractual employees, visiting scientists, and students and overseeing the
maintenance and support of its motion capture and analysis systems and
related instrumentation.



A Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or another traditional engineering
discipline is desired. Applicants should demonstrate a sound record of
technology development and research productivity. Strong organizational,
interpersonal and communication skills are essential.



This position is open only to Citizens or Permanent Residents of the United
States and will remain open until filled.
