Two Lectureships in Interactive systems

We are seeking lecturers in the Interactive Systems group at the School of Systems Engineering at the University of Reading. We are particularly keen to encourage those with biomedical interests. Readers of this list may be interested to know we have longstanding interest in biomedical engineering with work on Functional Electrical Stimulation (Dr. W. Holderbaum and Prof B. Andrews), Rehabilitation and medical robotics (Dr W. Harwin), VR in medicine (Prof P. Sharkey), and medical image processing (Dr V. Ruiz).

We are seeking to appoint five well-motivated applicants with
an established (or fast developing) research record. These
new appointments will reinforce the School’s commitment to
high quality research and teaching.

The School of Systems Engineering submitted groups under 2 Units
of Assessment in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise and obtained
a Grade 5 for Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a Grade
4 for Computer Science.

The School is seeking strong candidates with research interests
that complement those of our existing School Research Groups
(Ambient Pervasive Intelligence; Applied Software Engineering;
Cybernetic Intelligence; Interactive Systems; Instrumentation
& Signal Processing; and Parallel, Emergent & Distributed
Architectures). Candidates with strengths in biomedical applications
will be particularly welcome. The ability to teach to a high standard
and potential for inter-disciplinary and collaborative work both
within the School and with other Schools within the University
will also be considered.
